My team is under pressure to produce a new plan for building our customer base. No one is able to come up with anything new. I think we have “writer’s block.”
From the brain research, we know that when our emotions run high, our intelligence runs low. It’s no wonder that when under a lot of pressure, our teams do not actually perform at their best.
Instead, try our First Pancake recipe. You know how the first pancake that you make is always pale, limp and never the one that you want to serve to your guests. It always ends up under the pile or tossed away. The next pancake is usually the one that looks acceptable.
The same is true for brainstorming. Just toss out the first idea and be ready to build on this, not to accept it, but possibly to toss it out. Cut the pressure knowing that the first idea may not work. And that you have to throw out the first idea to get things started.
Let us know how it works for you!
